The School of Nursing delivers outstanding and forward-thinking nursing education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, tailored to serve a varied population. The program equips students for careers as healthcare practitioners, patient advocates, academic researchers, instructors, and healthcare leaders in an evolving medical landscape. First-year applicants and transfer students who haven't completed specific Clinical Nursing prerequisites upon enrollment may submit University applications by the standard deadline. These applicants maintain expressed interest status until entering the Clinical Nursing program. Each semester, the baccalaureate Nursing program accepts up to 80 traditional pre-licensure students into its clinical component. Due to high demand exceeding capacity, a competitive admissions process exists for the traditional pre-licensure track. Selection prioritizes candidates fulfilling prerequisite criteria and completing supplemental application steps. Current Sacramento State students, transfer applicants, and those pursuing second bachelor's degrees receive equal consideration for available openings. The nursing program's clinical segment exclusively admits California residents or those meeting specific eligibility criteria, including DACA recipients, AB 540-qualified students, and military fee waiver beneficiaries.
