The Honors Concentration complements one of the other available concentrations: the General Major, Ethics/Politics/Law, or Logic/Philosophy of Science. After being accepted into the Honors program, students need to develop a course plan that receives approval from the Department Honors Committee. Philosophy explores core questions about human understanding, reality's fundamental nature, ethical foundations, and principles of logical reasoning. It integrates insights from various academic fields while emphasizing clear, methodical, and objective analysis. Practical application of philosophical concepts plays a vital role in the discipline. Sacramento State provides both a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a minor in the subject. Studying philosophy sharpens analytical thinking and decision-making abilities, making it valuable for diverse career paths. Notably, philosophy serves as strong preparation for legal studies and practice. Those aiming for academic teaching positions should pursue graduate studies after completing their undergraduate degree.
