The Master of Science (M.S.) in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) equips students to become licensed as both Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC) in California and most other states. This COAMFTE and IACSTE accredited program (check the program website for current accreditation status) maintains international recognition, allowing graduates to practice globally. The cutting-edge coursework trains students for careers in diverse settings like public mental health facilities, community organizations, rehabilitation centers, educational institutions, private practices, or for advanced doctoral studies in family therapy. The program focuses on strength-based methods, social equity, proven therapeutic techniques, community mental health services, and therapist self-development, while offering specialized training in working with children, teens, couples, groups, trauma cases, addiction, and serious mental health conditions. After gaining substantial first-year practicum experience, students undertake intensive second-year field training at various mental health service providers. The program concludes with a capstone experience that allows students to deepen their expertise in chosen focus areas.
