The Master of Science program in Family and Consumer Sciences offers specializations in Apparel Design and Merchandising or Consumer Affairs and Family Studies. This curriculum prepares students to analyze, integrate, and implement relevant knowledge, theories, and research to develop practical, research-backed solutions in their chosen FCS specialization.
This 33-credit graduate program consists of 18 core credits covering research methods, leadership, and essential FCS principles. Both specializations require 12 credits of focused coursework that builds professional and research skills through theoretical, practical, and applied learning. Students complete their degree with a 3-credit capstone experience, choosing between a comprehensive examination, research thesis, or creative project.

Qualification Requirements

Hold a baccalaureate (bachelor's) degree from an officially accredited university or college in Family and Consumer Sciences, the option to which the student is applying, or a related field.
Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater for courses taken in the bachelor's degree. Applicants with less than a 3.0 undergraduate GPA who can demonstrate evidence of academic acumen may submit their application for consideration.
