The term kinesiology originates from the Greek word kinesis, referring to motion. This field examines both the artistic and scientific aspects of bodily movement. At CSUN, kinesiology focuses on analyzing physical activity in contexts like sports, dance, and exercise.
This specialization offers the necessary coursework to qualify for a Physical Education teaching credential in California's public school system. Prospective teachers should apply to the credential program during their first senior semester through the campus Credential Office. Earning the Preliminary Credential requires finishing the Kinesiology major with a Physical Education focus, along with 31 units of professional education courses, including student teaching.
