The Accountancy program is an intensive and highly selective curriculum that cultivates analytical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and sound judgment, while equipping students with the capabilities for continuous professional development post-graduation. The curriculum also imparts comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, technical practices, and the ethical standards crucial for excelling in public, corporate, governmental, and nonprofit accounting sectors.
To thrive as an accountancy major, students must demonstrate exceptional maturity, dedication, and self-motivation. Admission to the program depends on applicants' academic preparedness and achievements. Prospective students can enter either by enrolling at the university as Pre-Accountancy majors or, for current CSUN students, by submitting a change of major request to Pre-Accountancy. Advancement to full Accountancy major status requires satisfactory completion of the Pre-Accountancy requirements. Graduation mandates earning a grade of C or better in all upper-division required courses.
