The Bachelor of Music program offers two specialized tracks: Composition and Commercial and Media Writing (both requiring an entrance audition). Culminating experience: a 45-minute recital.
The Composition track focuses on modern art music approaches, enabling students to create works for chamber groups, orchestras, or electronic experimentation. This path is ideal for those aiming for graduate studies and careers in concert composition, academia, or research. Throughout each term, composition students enjoy numerous campus performance and recording opportunities, work alongside professional musicians and visiting artists, and explore cutting-edge musical methods. Alumni hold prestigious roles globally as educators, music therapists, conductors, published composers, acclaimed recording artists, performers with top-tier orchestras and opera companies, studio musicians, and contributors to Southern California's entertainment sector and beyond.
