The Bachelor of Arts program aims to cultivate students' artistic and intellectual growth through theatrical production, theater history, literature, and critique while offering foundational professional preparation. Serving as a practical extension of classroom instruction, undergraduates must engage in department-led production work every term. Theatre CSUN operates as the official production arm of the department, staging eight or more complete productions annually—including plays, musicals, and operas—created through collaboration between faculty, staff, students, and visiting artists. Participation opportunities for students are determined through auditions. Every program component is thoughtfully aligned with the theater curriculum.
California State University, Northridge's Theatre Department fosters dynamic involvement in theater arts that draws from and celebrates varied viewpoints. We continuously explore theater's evolving nature within a supportive, creative community.
