Aspiring elementary or special education teachers should consider one of the Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation programs. These options lead to a B.A. in Liberal Studies while covering the diverse subjects taught in self-contained classrooms. The curriculum includes language arts, natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, visual and performing arts, human development, physical education, and health studies. Graduates emerge with comprehensive knowledge across these disciplines. Those choosing the Teacher Preparation track are exempt from University General Education requirements, as completing the Liberal Studies major satisfies these prerequisites.
The Pre-Credential Program exclusively offers a Liberal Studies B.A. and serves as an ideal pathway for students planning to pursue teaching credentials post-graduation. This track requires 105-107 specified units toward the 120-unit degree. Additionally, the Pre-Credential Program acts as the entry point for the ITEP-Junior program, with transition requiring admission to CSUN's Credential program.
