The M.A. in Anthropology aims to equip students for careers in private or public organizations, community college teaching roles, or further academic pursuits leading to a Ph.D. Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in anthropology with a minimum 3.0 GPA in anthropology coursework. Those without an anthropology bachelor's degree may still apply by submitting the necessary University and Department applications along with required documents.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a baccalaureate in anthropology and a B (3.0) grade point average in anthropology courses. Students who do not have a bachelor's degree in Anthropology are encouraged to submit the University and Department applications and required materials. In such instances, admission may be granted on a conditional basis. Students admitted conditionally must have a B (3.0) grade point average in their major courses and will be required to complete 6 units of Anthropology coursework, including ANTH 4970 and one additional course chosen in consultation with their academic advisor, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher before beginning the Master's program.
