The Art Education program equips students for careers in arts instruction and makes them eligible for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art (a graduate-level program). This curriculum incorporates elements of professional training, approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, to help future educators demonstrate proficiency in Art. Participants in the Art Education program gain expertise across diverse artistic fields that align with teaching art in public schools and community learning environments. The program guarantees that graduates can effectively integrate all aspects of the California Framework for Visual and Performing Arts into standards-aligned lesson plans. Additional details about teaching credential requirements can be found in the College of Education section.
