Gerontology focuses on the scientific examination of aging processes and related phenomena. The Gerontology Program aims to enhance the quality of life for middle-aged and older adults through education, advisory services, and research initiatives. This program benefits from collaborations with the Gerontology Faculty Interest Group, the Center for Successful Aging, a DreamCatchers chapter, and a Sigma Phi Omega chapter—a national honor society welcoming students from all fields who are interested in aging studies. Recognized for excellence, the Gerontology Certificate and Minor Programs received the Programs of Merit designation from the Academy of Gerontology in Higher Education. Located at California State University, Long Beach, the Center for Successful Aging works alongside other campus organizations addressing aging-related matters. As a multidisciplinary partnership between academia and the community, the Center fosters joint advancements in education, practice, policy development, and research.
