The Master of Science in Applied Statistics program equips students with the skills to apply statistical techniques for deriving accurate and insightful conclusions from data. Graduates learn to proficiently analyze real-world datasets using statistical tools like SAS, SPSS, Minitab, and R, while effectively presenting their results. To earn the degree, students must complete 30 course units and either pass two comprehensive exams or complete a thesis/project. Most students finish the program within four semesters. After graduation, alumni pursue careers as statistical analysts across various sectors including industry, government, and academia, with some continuing their education through doctoral programs at other institutions.

Qualification Requirements

Before you apply to your program, you must meet the following minimal requirements:

have competed all but at most one of the prerequisites for your program
have a GPA of at least 2.5 in your last 90 quarter units or last 60 semester units of college level course work

Letters of recommendation and GRE are not required for your admission, but are helpful. The letters should be addressed to the graduate advisor specific to the program.

Have earned a grade point average of at least 2.5 on the last degree completed by the candidate or have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 (A=4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
