The Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education (30-36 units) aims to cultivate skilled educators who utilize research-driven approaches to create age-appropriate and culturally sensitive curriculum and assessment methods for children from infancy to age 8. Students learn techniques for strengthening connections between families, schools, and communities.
Our ECE program nurtures teacher-leaders who champion the needs of young learners, their families, and the profession. The updated curriculum now provides deeper content knowledge, teaching research-supported methods that honor cultural diversity while enhancing literacy skills, integrating math with STEM concepts, and implementing early intervention strategies.
Students gain comprehensive insights into varied family dynamics and child-rearing traditions, applying this knowledge to curriculum design and family engagement. Addressing contemporary challenges, participants analyze factors influencing children's behavior and learning, developing supportive instructional and intervention methods. The program also examines policies affecting young children and families through a critical lens.
