The School Health Option prepares individuals to teach health science in California's middle and high schools. This California Commission on Teacher Credentialing-approved program fulfills subject matter competency requirements for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Health Science. Students should meet with the department's Health Science Single Subject Advisor early to develop their academic plan. To earn a B.S. in Health Science, students must: Complete general education requirements, Pass all courses on their chosen Option's Program Planner with at least a C grade in each course (or approved equivalent), Earn a minimum of 120 units, including at least 40 upper-division units (courses numbered 300-499).

Qualification Requirements

Have earned a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or B' grade according to the CSULB GPA scale.
Fulfill CSULB's English Language Requirement
Have completed at least 1 year of high school mathematics. Applicants to STEM majors must have at least 3 years of high school mathematics.
CSULB has waived the SAT/ACT requirement for all first-time Freshmen applicants. However, if you have taken the test or are planning on doing so, you may have met our English language requirement if you scored at least 550 on the SAT Evidence based Reading & Writing section or ACT 22 or higher in the English section.
