A degree program that explores music through an interdisciplinary lens, emphasizing diversity and modern perspectives rather than performance. The curriculum includes foundational music courses, advanced electives covering popular, world, film, and art music, plus a customized track of non-music electives spanning at least two other academic fields (one primary and one or more secondary). Students complete their studies with a capstone research paper/project that situates music within historical, cultural, theoretical, or interdisciplinary frameworks, addressing diversity topics and contemporary ideas. This final project integrates knowledge from one of the student's chosen interdisciplinary or cultural studies fields.
Prospective students must audition for admission to evaluate their performance level. All applicants are required to consult with the BA advisor before or during their first semester to discuss their academic goals and develop a personalized study plan.
