The School of Music provides a Master of Music degree focused on performance, with specialization options in choral, wind, or orchestral conducting. Each program features an in-depth curriculum covering repertoire, historical context, score analysis, and personalized conducting instruction. Alumni of the conducting program frequently secure positions at community colleges across the U.S. or advance to prestigious doctoral programs. The Master of Music includes two focus areas: theory/composition and performance. This degree aims to develop graduates who: possess expert-level understanding of music history, literature, and theory; demonstrate advanced, reflective musical practice through performance, improvisation, composition, and analysis at a pre-professional standard; enter their field with exceptional expertise; meet professional communication standards through research and presentations; exhibit leadership in academic and performance collaborations; pursue innovative artistic expression in programming; and integrate global perspectives and contemporary trends into their musical practice, education, and career growth.
