The Master of Music in Performance is a 30-unit applied degree program focusing on private instruction, ensemble participation, music history, and theory. The School of Music at Cal State Fullerton boasts faculty members who are acclaimed performers, scholars, and composers worldwide. Students flourish in a rigorous musical environment that balances intensive training with personalized mentorship. This degree serves as a pathway to DMA programs for those pursuing doctoral studies, offering two specializations: theory/composition and performance. Graduates of the M.M. program will: possess expert-level understanding of music history, literature, and theory; demonstrate pre-professional mastery in performance, composition, and analysis; enter their field with exceptional expertise; meet professional communication standards through research and presentations; exhibit leadership in academic and performance collaborations; pursue innovative artistic expression in programming; and integrate global perspectives with contemporary practices in performance, composition, and career advancement.
