The School of Music provides a Master of Music degree focused on performance, with specialization options in choral, wind, or orchestral conducting. Each program features an in-depth curriculum covering repertoire, historical context, score analysis, and personalized conducting instruction. Alumni of the conducting program frequently secure positions at community colleges across the U.S. or advance to prestigious doctoral programs. The degree includes two focus areas: theory/composition and performance. This graduate program aims to develop musicians who: possess expert understanding of music history, literature, and theory; demonstrate advanced, reflective musical practice at a pre-professional level through performance, composition, and analysis; enter their profession with exceptional expertise; communicate effectively through research and presentations; exhibit leadership in collaborative settings; pursue innovative artistic expression; and integrate global perspectives with contemporary practices in performance, composition, and career growth.
