The Master of Music in Performance is a 30-unit applied degree program focusing on private instruction, ensemble participation, chamber music, music history, and theory. Organ students receive focused training in areas like organ repertoire and historical context. At Cal State Fullerton's School of Music, students learn from faculty with national and international reputations as performers, scholars, and composers. The program fosters rigorous musical development while providing personalized guidance. This degree serves as a pathway to DMA programs for students pursuing doctoral studies, with two available concentrations: performance and theory/composition. Graduates of the M.M. program will: possess expert-level understanding of music theory, history, and literature; demonstrate pre-professional mastery in performance, composition, and analysis; enter their field with exceptional capabilities; communicate effectively through research and presentations; exhibit leadership in academic and performance collaborations; pursue innovative artistic expression in programming; and integrate global perspectives and contemporary trends into their musical practice, education, and career growth.
