The Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts is designed for students seeking professional-level education in design, technical production, and directing. Depending on a student's prior undergraduate studies or professional background, adjustments to the curriculum may be made. Typically, the program takes three years to complete. Each semester concludes with faculty committee evaluations of M.F.A. candidates. This committee can recommend to the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs whether students should continue, be dismissed, or receive academic warnings based on their professional conduct, teamwork, and advancement in both coursework and departmental productions. The Department of Theatre and Dance enjoys strong regional and national recognition, with many awards to its name. Its expert faculty and staff equip students for diverse careers in both the entertainment industry and academia. Alumni have graced Broadway stages, national tours, regional theaters, and theme park performances, while design and technical graduates have earned acclaim at venues nationwide.

You are eligible to apply as a graduate student if you have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
You must have completed a four-year college course of study and hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association or an equivalent academic preparation before enrollment in the program.
Be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended.

Have earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5 from the last degree completed by the candidate or have attained a grade-point average of at least 2.5 (A=4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
