The Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts is designed for students seeking professional-level education in design, technical production, and directing. Depending on a student's prior undergraduate studies or professional background, adjustments to the curriculum may be made. Typically, the program takes three years to complete. Each semester concludes with faculty committee evaluations of M.F.A. candidates. This committee can recommend to the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs whether students should continue, be dismissed, or receive academic warnings. Evaluations consider professionalism, teamwork, and advancement in both coursework and departmental productions. The Department of Theatre and Dance enjoys strong regional and national recognition, with many awards to its credit. Its expert faculty and staff equip students for diverse careers in the industry and academia. Alumni have performed on Broadway, national tours, regional theaters, and theme parks, while design and technical graduates have earned acclaim at venues nationwide.
