The Kinesiology Department promotes research and application of human movement throughout life within our evolving, diverse society. Both undergraduate and graduate programs provide specialized study options in Exercise Science, Gerokinesiology, Pre-Allied Health, Recreation, Sports Studies, Strength Training, and Teacher Education. Students can also pursue an undergraduate Minor in Kinesiology. The full-time Master of Science in Athletic Training program qualifies graduates for careers as certified athletic trainers. These degree programs facilitate advanced research across kinesiology sub-disciplines: biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor control/learning, motor development, sports psychology, and socio-cultural aspects of movement. The department's interdisciplinary approach cultivates essential liberal arts skills: analytical reasoning, problem-solving, leadership, communication abilities, and technical proficiency.
