The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an extensive exploration of human movement and physical activity. Learners examine motion throughout life from multiple perspectives, including biomechanical, physiological, psychological, social, behavioral, educational, and vocational standpoints. Specialized tracks equip students with foundational knowledge for graduate studies or careers in healthcare, exercise physiology, aging and movement, physical education teaching, sports management, fitness programming, coaching, senior wellness, and strength training.
Our Kinesiology Department promotes research and application of lifelong human movement within our evolving multicultural society. Both undergraduate and graduate programs provide specialized pathways in Exercise Science, Aging and Movement Studies, Pre-Health Professions, Sports Management, Fitness Leadership, Coaching Education, and Physical Education Teacher Preparation. Students may also pursue a Kinesiology minor. The intensive Master of Science in Athletic Training program qualifies graduates for certification as athletic trainers. Our degree programs facilitate advanced research across kinesiology's core disciplines: movement mechanics, physiological adaptation, skill acquisition, developmental patterns, psychological factors in sport, and cultural studies of physical activity. The interdisciplinary nature of our curriculum cultivates essential liberal arts competencies: analytical reasoning, solution development, leadership abilities, effective communication, and digital proficiency.
