The Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies caters to students passionate about examining gender, race, and sexuality through feminist and queer theoretical lenses. This interdisciplinary program incorporates diverse courses from various university departments. Students gain essential research and communication abilities that enhance their academic journey. Graduates emerge prepared for careers in academia, non-profits, education, counseling, human services, and other fields prioritizing social justice and awareness of how gender, race, sexuality, ethnicity, and class shape lived experiences. Our curriculum investigates how cultural perceptions of gender, sexuality, and embodiment influence identities, societies, and systems. We emphasize intersectional analysis of power dynamics, considering factors like race, racism, class, religion, citizenship, ability, heteronormativity, and other social constructs. The program progresses from theoretical exploration to practical application, engaging students in contemporary issues through activism, writing, research initiatives, publishing opportunities, and collaborative projects with faculty and peers.
