California State University, Fresno offers an interdisciplinary studies major for both Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MS) degrees, designed for graduate students requiring advanced multidisciplinary education not provided by current programs. Eligible students may submit a formal proposal (Section II) outlining a unified curriculum combining courses and graduate experiences from multiple departments. Proposals that could fit within existing master's programs through elective courses will not be accepted.
The MS in Interdisciplinary Studies focuses on broad scientific understanding combined with professional research skills and analytical techniques. This degree suits those pursuing science-based careers spanning multiple disciplines. The MA in Interdisciplinary Studies covers diverse fields, especially those involving arts, literature, and humanities.
Successful applicants are normally expected to meet the following requirements before attaining graduate standing in an interdisciplinary studies degree program:
Minimum 213 (computer-based), 550 (paper-based), or 80 (internet-based)
