The Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL) program offers a specialized graduate degree for students seeking a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership within the Department of Educational Leadership. Designed for those aiming for careers in higher education or related educational environments, the HEAL program provides a comprehensive 30-semester unit curriculum. Students explore topics covering policies, practices, theories, and contemporary challenges in postsecondary education. Through this program, participants gain critical analytical and research abilities while enhancing their leadership competencies. Combining rigorous coursework with co-curricular activities and faculty guidance, HEAL equips students with the foundational knowledge and principles needed for effective leadership in higher education institutions and similar settings.
Specifically, a student shall (1) hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, or have completed equivalent academic preparation as determined by appropriate campus authorities; (2) be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended; (3) have satisfied any one of the following: [a] attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, or [b] attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted, or [c] hold an acceptable post-baccalaureate degree earned at an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association.
In addition to the admission requirements listed in the Graduate Education Program section of this catalog, admission to the HEAL program require a minimum of a 2.75 GPA.
English language Score: TOEFL – 80 iBT, or IELTS – 6.5, or Pearson’s Test of English - 53, or iTEP – 4.5.
