The Master of Arts in Education with a Multilingual/Multicultural Education specialization equips educators to create fair learning environments through expert teaching and leadership. This program establishes a strong foundation in research, curriculum development, and leadership skills to support equity for linguistically and culturally diverse (LCD) students. Participants will engage with English learners (EL) as well as students with unique language and cultural requirements.
Enhance educators' advanced research capabilities and professional training concerning LCD learners.
Develop instructional leaders who understand the complex challenges and rights of LCD students across all educational levels, grounded in ethical and social justice principles.
Equip educators with insights into leadership roles within global education systems from LCD community perspectives.
Graduates will gain expertise in implementing effective teaching methods and proven pedagogical approaches for diverse student populations. They'll also develop leadership competencies for staff training, student support services, and higher education environments. This focused preparation serves as excellent groundwork for pursuing doctoral studies.
Specifically, a student shall (1) hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, or have completed equivalent academic preparation as determined by appropriate campus authorities; (2) be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended; (3) have satisfied any one of the following: [a] attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, or [b] attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted, or [c] hold an acceptable post-baccalaureate degree earned at an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association.
English language Score: TOEFL – 80 iBT, or IELTS – 6.5, or Pearson’s Test of English - 53, or iTEP – 4.5. Application Deadlines: Fall - June 1 and spring - Oct 1.
