The Department of Educational Leadership aims to develop courageous, ethically-minded leaders committed to reshaping education systems. Our students explore cultural, linguistic, and societal factors connected to broader equality and justice concerns. We focus on cultivating leadership skills necessary for establishing dynamic, inclusive professional environments that support fair educational practices. Both in-person/hybrid options are available through our department, while University Extension provides a completely online alternative.
Graduates who complete both the administrative credential and leadership master's program qualify for administrative roles across K-12 public education. Career opportunities span school-site leadership (such as principal or assistant principal) and district-level management (including curriculum specialists, professional development leaders, HR administrators, and superintendent roles). Many alumni also secure positions in county and state education offices.
