Psychology explores human behavior and cognitive functions. Professionals in this field examine how individuals process information, cope with stress, acquire and lose knowledge, form distinct personalities, and engage socially. Some researchers analyze animal behavior and neurological systems to uncover universal patterns across species. Psychological expertise is applied in therapeutic settings, educational institutions, correctional facilities, rehabilitation programs, and corporate environments to optimize performance.
The Bachelor of Science programs offer specialized tracks. BS candidates must choose between two concentrations: Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Ergonomics and Human Factors. The Industrial/Organizational track prepares students for business careers, particularly in human resources management. The Ergonomics and Human Factors concentration trains students to design workplaces and tools (like computers, vehicles, and aircraft) that accommodate human capabilities while minimizing limitations, including developing efficient industrial processes.
