The Physics program plays several key roles within the College's academic framework. It not only equips students for graduate studies and careers in physics and related fields like geophysics, atmospheric science, and astronomy, but also delivers essential physics education for students pursuing other scientific disciplines.
Recognizing our society's increasingly technological character, the department also emphasizes educating non-science majors. Physics faculty contribute to teaching SCI courses, aimed at helping these students grasp scientific methodologies and objectives while engaging them in thoughtful discussions about critical science-technology-society issues.
While the basic degree requirements are outlined below, Physics majors aspiring to professional physics careers should consider taking supplementary physics and mathematics courses. Physics faculty members are available to offer guidance on optimal course selections for students interested in this major.
