The Department of Public Policy and Administration at California State University Bakersfield aims to develop and enhance analytical thinking, effective communication, leadership abilities, administrative skills, and ethical decision-making for current and aspiring professionals in government agencies, nonprofit entities, and healthcare institutions throughout the San Joaquin Valley. This program's rigorous coursework equips managers across public, nonprofit, and healthcare sectors to implement governance practices that promote inclusivity and social accountability.
Strategic Objectives
Our PPA programs are designed to cultivate skilled, principled, and impactful leaders in public service, nonprofit management, and healthcare administration who can drive meaningful progress.
In alignment with, and supplementing, the university's existing academic and conduct standards for undergraduates, all admitted students must maintain exemplary academic and professional integrity throughout their studies to uphold public trust in governmental institutions. Those who breach academic honesty or professional conduct norms will face disciplinary measures per university policies, with provisions for review and appeal processes.
Undergraduate students lacking prior public service or administrative background must fulfill a community-based learning component as part of their degree requirements.
