The CSU Bakersfield Music Department provides a Bachelor of Arts in Music with specializations in Music Education and General Music, along with a Music minor and academic support for General Education and Liberal Studies. The program enriches the local cultural landscape through diverse musical performances including wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz groups, chamber music, choirs, and opera productions, complemented by recitals, workshops, festivals, and visiting artist events. During summer months, it organizes the CSUB Kod√°ly Institute, an accredited program recognized by the Organization of American Kod√°ly Educators, and the Bakersfield International Music Festival, a chamber music initiative for emerging young musicians.
