The French and Francophone Studies Program focuses on practical French language application through coursework that directly connects with Francophone cultures. Faculty and students build close relationships while engaging in weekend learning sessions and retreats. Through intimate class sizes, learners explore the literary traditions and cultural practices of France along with Francophone areas including Quebec, Nova Scotia, Belgium, Switzerland, North African nations like Morocco and Tunisia, West African countries such as Senegal and Mali, and Caribbean French-speaking territories. All majors complete at least four weeks of study abroad in a Francophone location, with options extending to a full academic year, potentially including faculty-designed internship opportunities.
