Rooted in independent cinema traditions, students master the essentials of both narrative and documentary filmmaking through a hands-on program shaped by indie film production and innovative digital tools. Our approach combines practical filmmaking experience with film theory, all within a liberal arts framework that cultivates ethical storytellers exploring humanity through artistic expression.
Students can specialize in environmental, social justice, natural history, or science filmmaking, creating fictional, documentary, and experimental works for audiences often overlooked by mainstream media. The program emphasizes professional standards, quality output, and collaborative creativity throughout all coursework.
The core Filmmaking I-IV sequence offers immersive training in 16mm and digital video production, digital post-production techniques, and crafting compelling stories with meaningful themes. Students enjoy round-the-clock access to digital editing suites throughout the school year.
