The goal of Caltech's Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program is to develop graduates who will pursue careers and advanced studies leading to leadership positions in academia, industry, and government within rapidly evolving interdisciplinary technology fields involving fluid, solid, thermal, and mechanical systems. The program aims to prepare students to build upon a foundational education in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology, applying these principles to solve open-ended engineering challenges, design and analyze fluid, thermal, and mechanical systems, work collaboratively in teams, communicate effectively, consider ethical implications, and understand the wider consequences of engineering advancements, including societal, cultural, and environmental impacts.
International citizens must have completed Caltech's required academic preparation during their secondary school career.
Additional requirements of our international citizen applicants: TOEFL scores: Required of all international citizens unless 1) your native language is English or 2) you have studied for two or more years in a school where English is the language of instruction.
