Astronomy employs the tools and techniques of physics to collect and analyze information, aiming to comprehend the fundamental mechanisms that shape the cosmos, its components, and their formation and development. Astrophysics complements this through theoretical studies and technological advancements. It's worth noting that astronomy and astrophysics are often considered synonymous terms.
The astrophysics program aims to equip students with knowledge of contemporary astronomical principles, spark their enthusiasm for scientific inquiry, and prepare them for advanced studies in astronomy or astrophysics. Participants will acquire an extensive foundation in various scientific and engineering disciplines.
International citizens must have completed Caltech's required academic preparation during their secondary school career.
Additional requirements of our international citizen applicants: TOEFL scores: Required of all international citizens unless 1) your native language is English or 2) you have studied for two or more years in a school where English is the language of instruction.
