Our program offers undergraduate courses in astronomy and astrophysics, primarily for astronomy majors, along with several general courses that may appeal to students from other disciplines. Astronomy employs physics-based tools and techniques to collect and analyze data, aiming to comprehend the universe's fundamental processes, its components, and their formation and development. Astrophysics complements this with theoretical exploration and technological advancement. The undergraduate astrophysics track equips students with contemporary astronomical knowledge, fosters research enthusiasm, and lays groundwork for advanced studies. Our graduate program focuses on cultivating innovative researchers through comprehensive coursework across astrophysics disciplines, followed by independent research opportunities. Students can explore diverse astrophysics fields while benefiting from Caltech's extensive observational facilities.
