Among the world's most ancient artistic traditions, textiles now occupy the forefront of modern artistic expression and scholarly exploration. Creators operating across disciplines are embracing fabric and stitching to harness the medium's imaginative and intellectual possibilities. CCA's Textiles program offers an interdisciplinary Fine Arts education that exposes students to diverse textile techniques—including weaving, printing, dyeing, and handcraft—through innovative, concept-driven approaches. We view textiles not merely as a production method, but as a transformative lens for examining form and repetition, hue and substance, surroundings and collective identity.
Our comprehensive program equips students to create meaningful change across various domains. Graduates emerge prepared to thrive as multidisciplinary creators, design professionals, business innovators, social advocates, and grassroots leaders. They possess the expertise to excel within established systems while simultaneously challenging conventions, effectively reshaping conversations about physical media and artisanal practice. While some alumni enter textile manufacturing as designers, many more establish themselves as gallery-represented visual artists with global reach.
