The MPH-MPA Dual Degree Program is an intensive curriculum designed for driven, intellectually engaged students dedicated to exploring both public health and public policy disciplines.
This collaborative initiative between the School of Public Health and the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs combines the Master of Public Health (MPH) with the Master of Public Affairs (MPA). The program welcomes applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. With its hands-on learning methodology, this challenging program provides exceptional candidates with comprehensive training in both public health and policy, equipping them to tackle pressing health policy challenges domestically and globally. Beginning in summer, the dual degree requires completion of 17 courses (14 full and 6 half courses), along with a practicum and either a thesis or capstone project. Participants will have access to the extensive academic offerings of both the School of Public Health and Watson Institute. While typically finished in two years, students may opt for a more extended timeline, with all degree requirements to be fulfilled within five years.
Students at Brown create and navigate their own intellectual journeys. As a result, no two applicants share the same background. The GRE is not required for School of Public Health graduate programs.
