Honors in the concentration are awarded for outstanding academic achievement and independent research work. Although completing an independent research project is mandatory for an Honors Degree, merely finishing such work doesn't automatically qualify a student for Honors graduation. The criteria for earning an Sc.B. in Neuroscience with Honors include: Maintaining a minimum 3.3 GPA in concentration courses, including prerequisite classes. Students must successfully complete an independent research project approved by their faculty advisor and submit a thesis detailing their research. Each thesis must be individually authored - collaborative theses are not permitted. After being reviewed and endorsed by the faculty advisor, the thesis must be submitted to the Neuroscience Undergraduate Curriculum Committee by the specified deadline, typically two weeks before the public presentation. The Committee grants Honors recognition if the thesis demonstrates exceptional quality and maintains a strong neuroscience focus.
