Geophysics explores numerous critical and intriguing subjects, such as Earth's shifting climate, reducing risks from natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanic activity, and slope failures, along with our planet's inner composition and processes. This focus area suits students who appreciate analytical reasoning and have a strong interest in examining Earth, its surroundings, and celestial bodies.
Both AB and ScB degrees are available, with the ScB requiring additional (19) courses, including a research component. DEEPS fosters a cooperative educational setting that prioritizes experiential, practical methods in lectures, laboratories, and fieldwork. Students have ample chances to conduct research alongside professors, graduate students, and scientists. The program develops competencies in analytical reasoning, effective communication, data interpretation and simulation, and employing systematic methods to address challenges, equipping graduates for diverse professional paths.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
