Earth and Planetary Science is an interdisciplinary field that integrates concepts from physics, chemistry, and biology to examine phenomena affecting Earth and other celestial bodies.
Students in this program explore planetary interiors, investigating topics like rock and mineral formation, tectonic plate movements, and geological events such as mountain formation and volcanic activity. Additional focus areas include surface-level processes like shoreline changes, water resource development, and the expansion of arid regions. This program suits those interested in gaining a comprehensive scientific perspective on the forces that mold our physical environment.

The department offers both A.B. and Sc.B. degree options, requiring 12 and 19 courses respectively. These programs develop essential skills in analytical reasoning, data interpretation and modeling, solving intricate challenges, and effective communication. DEEPS fosters a cooperative educational atmosphere with an emphasis on experiential learning through classroom activities, laboratory work, and field excursions. Students also have numerous chances to engage in funded research projects during summer breaks or the regular academic term.
