The Applied Mathematics-Economics specialization is structured to align with the quantitative and analytical aspects of contemporary economic theory and research. This program offers two pathways. The first is the advanced economics pathway, tailored for students pursuing graduate studies in economics. The second is the mathematical finance pathway, designed for those aiming for graduate work in finance or careers in financial sectors or engineering. Both pathways are available as A.B. or Sc.B. degree options, including a Professional track. Core mathematical competencies in Applied Mathematics draw from diverse disciplines relevant to specific challenges: differential equations (ordinary and partial), matrix algebra, statistical methods, probability and decision-making theories, risk assessment, and actuarial studies, among others. This field attracts individuals with varied interests, from those seeking strong quantitative foundations for professional pursuits to those fascinated by the methodologies themselves. The standard program culminates in either an A.B. or Sc.B. degree.
