Eligible students have the option to complete an honors thesis in their final year. To qualify for honors consideration, candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 (A4, B3, C2) across all concentration courses, with no more than one (1) course taken under the 'S/NC' grading option. The honors distinction additionally requires a senior thesis that showcases empirical research comprehension, endorsed by both the advisor and reader. A Sociology faculty member will oversee the thesis, with a second reader selected jointly by the student and thesis director. Thesis writers must register for SOC 1950, along with SOC 1980 and SOC 1990 during their senior year (note: SOC 1980 and SOC 1990 do not contribute to the 12-13 course concentration requirement).
