Each year, the department awards degrees to around 75 undergraduate concentrators, ranking it among Brown's more popular social science programs. Our curriculum features intimate freshman, sophomore, and senior seminars alongside larger introductory and advanced lecture courses. The department boasts a thriving Honors Program where students collaborate with faculty mentors on yearlong original research projects, and many faculty members engage in joint research initiatives with concentrators. Numerous students obtain policy and politics-related internships throughout their Brown education. Graduates pursue diverse career trajectories including legal studies, advanced degrees in political science or public policy, political activism across various government levels, and management consulting roles.

Brown's Political Science program focuses on examining political participation within societal, economic, and cultural contexts. What particularly energizes our community are fundamental inquiries about political systems - both domestically and globally. We analyze individuals as well as their interactions within communities, municipalities, states, regions, and nations. Faculty integrate their innovative research into courses covering topics like Global Illicit Economy Politics, Urban Governance, Constitutional Law, Wealth and Ethics in Policy, Historical Slavery Studies, Gender in U.S. Politics, Political Polarization, Presidential Studies, Urban Democracy and Inequality, Latin American Governance, Classical vs. Modern Political Thought, International Relations Psychology, Indian Political Systems, and Nuclear Arms in Global Politics.
