Students aiming to graduate with honors need to submit an application to write a Senior Thesis in their sixth term and gain approval. They must maintain a grade average predominantly consisting of A's over B's and, crucially, produce an original Senior Thesis that satisfies or surpasses the Department Rubric's criteria. Honors recognition depends entirely on the thesis's merit. Completing a thesis does not automatically result in honors. Additionally, students can choose to write a Senior Thesis for course credit without pursuing honors, provided they adhere to the outlined procedures.

Qualification Requirements

International applicants, like all applicants to Brown, are expected to complete secondary school. Brown's first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling. Similar to applications from students within the United States, we evaluate applications from students outside the United States with their context and opportunities in mind.
English language proficiency must be achieved before you are admitted. Brown does not offer courses in English as a Second Language for its undergraduates and does not offer provisional acceptances to students who are deficient in English.
