The Master of Arts program provides concentrations in Music Education and Musicology. Applicants lacking sufficient academic preparation in music may need to take supplementary foundational courses as part of their MA requirements.
MA in Musicology. This curriculum trains future educators and researchers to foster musical literacy and artistic appreciation. Participants contribute to scholarly discourse through historical and analytical research that enhances knowledge of Western music's evolution, performance traditions, social contexts, and artistic values (with some exploration of non-Western traditions). Such scholarship aims to broaden recognition of cultural and historical diversity reflected in musical performances and audio recordings.
