The Physics program offers comprehensive training in physics, preparing students for modern applications or advanced studies in physics and astronomy. This degree path is ideal for those aiming to pursue graduate work in physics or seeking careers in research settings that demand extensive physics knowledge across key subdisciplines. It also serves as excellent preparation for students planning to enter professional fields like business, law, or medicine after establishing a strong scientific foundation.
Before graduation, all physics majors must complete the Physics Major Field Test during their final semester. This standardized evaluation, developed by ETS (Educational Testing Service), measures undergraduate physics proficiency. Exam details and practice questions are available on the ETS website: http://www.ets.org/mft/about/content/physics. The test results don't impact transcripts or GPAs. Students should coordinate with the Physics undergraduate office to schedule their exam, which usually occurs at the Testing Center prior to mid-semester.
