Licensure: This program fulfills the educational criteria necessary to qualify for a professional license or certification in Utah. Students aiming to obtain licensure in other states should consult with the relevant BYU academic advising center and their target state's licensing board to understand specific certification requirements.
The Dance Education K-12 major has limited enrollment, requiring applicants to undergo an audition and departmental review. Prospective students should initially declare a Dance Education K-12 Pre-major and complete Dance 241R, Dance 290, and Dance 261 in their first year. Admission to the program depends on a proficiency audition, original choreography, an interview, academic performance standards, UBCI/FBI background checks, and successful completion of Dance 276R.
